Seattle present \nChoral Tradition: Songs of Hope\nJoin the Northwest Boychoir and Vocalpoint! Seattle for an evening celebrating the enduring power of the human spirit. The program begins with a selection of contemporary works by beloved Pacific Northwest composers Jessica French\, John Muehleisen\, Karen P. Thomas\, and Reginald Unterseher. These pieces explore the tools we use to overcome life’s challenges: the courage to remain undaunted\, the steady ebb and flow of nature’s rhythms\, and the quiet\, unyielding presence of hope and inner resolve. These regional voices set the stage for the second half of the program\, where the choir is joined by lyric baritone Martin Rothwell for Gabriel Fauré’s gentle Requiem in D minor. \nPerformances\nSat\, February 28 at 7:30 pm\nSt Stephen’s Episcopal Church\, Laurelhurst \nSun\, March 1 at 4:00 pm (matinee)\nPhinney Ridge Lutheran Church\, Greenwood \nBUY TICKETS\n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″ shape_divider_position=”bottom” bg_image_animation=”none”][vc_column centered_text=”true” column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_link_target=”_self” column_shadow=”none” column_border_radius=”none” bottom_margin=”4%” width=”1/1″ tablet_width_inherit=”default” tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid” bg_image_animation=”none”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″ shape_divider_position=”bottom” bg_image_animation=”none”][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_link_target=”_self” column_shadow=”none” column_border_radius=”none” width=”1/1″ tablet_width_inherit=”default” tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid” bg_image_animation=”none”][vc_column_text][/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

SUMMARY:Far From Sight\, Near At Heart with Northwest Boychoir Apprentices
DESCRIPTION:A Mosaic of What We Hold Dear\, through Filipino\, Austronesian\, & European Music\nBy Choral Arts Northwest \n\nSaturday\, May 17\, 2025\, 7:30 PM (Northwest Boychoir will not be performing at this concert)\nFirst Congregational Church Bellevue\, 11061 NE 2nd St\, Bellevue\, WA 98004\nSunday\, May 18\, 2025\, 3 PM\nSt. Mark’s Cathedral\, 1245 Tenth Avenue East\, Seattle\, WA 98102\n\nChoral music from Southeast Asia\, Europe\, and the U.S. converge to celebrate who and what we cherish in life\, from childhood play to lifelong love. This musical journey spans from the Italian Renaissance\, through the Baroque and Romantic eras\, to acclaimed composers living in the Philippines\, U.S.\, and Taiwan. Music for double chorus by J. S. Bach (Singet dem Herrn) invokes a joyful spirit of listening and dialogue. We find delight and comfort in nature’s winds\, rustling in Claudio Monteverdi’s Ecco mormorar l’onde and Ily Matthew Maniano’s Amihan\, which depicts refreshing tropical trade winds. We relish in harvest and home in Taiwanese Indigenous folksongs arranged by Tsai Yu-Shan and music of safe dwelling by Johannes Brahms. Children’s games tease us and young love sparkles in settings by Maniano\, Choi\, and Alec Powell. And sublime choral beauty suspends us\, as we hold our loved ones near at heart\, with Nilo Alcala’s setting of his mother’s poetry\, “I am here with you always.” \nWith Collaborative Artists: \n\nSerena Chin\, piano/continuo organ\nRoss Gilliland\, violone\nNorthwest Boychoir Apprentices (May 18 only)\n\n  \nBUY TICKETS

SUMMARY:Carmina Burana with Seattle Philharmonic
DESCRIPTION:Premiered in 1937\, Carl Orff’s “scenic cantata” Carmina Burana lost no time establishing itself as the most popular choral work of the 20th century. The Philharmonic’s much-anticipated 2020 Carmina had to be delayed due to COVID\, and we are thrilled to finally be able to offer it to our audiences again\, in a performance featuring three superb vocal soloists and two of the region’s finest choirs. Ukrainian composer Victoria Vita Polevá has cited her religious faith and “love of humanity” as principal inspirations for her creations. The Philharmonic celebrates this major contemporary composer with the U.S. premiere of her symphonic poem Null\, a work of staggering power in which time seems to stand still. The program begins with Morton Gould’s stirring Fanfare for Freedom\, and guest soloist Mark Robbins brings his glowing artistry to Mozart’s Horn Concerto No. 4. \nBUY TICKETS \n\nSeattle Symphony Chorale\, Joseph Crnko\, director\nNorthwest Boychoir\, Jacob Winkler\, director \n\n\nSoloist | Stacey Mastrian\, Soprano \nSoloist | José Luis Muñoz\, Countertenor \nSoloist | Zachary Lenox\, Baritone

SUMMARY:Mahler Symphony No. 3 with Seattle Symphony
DESCRIPTION:Thursday\, April 11 at 7:30pm \nSaturday\, April 13 at 8:00pm \nSunday\, April 14 at 2:00pm \nThe Northwest Boychoir joins the Seattle Symphony in a performance of Mahler Symphony No.3. Mahler famously said that a “symphony must be like the world. It must embrace everything.” His massive Third Symphony fulfills this belief by encompassing the vastness of nature\, expressing in turn the elemental forces of life\, the flowers in the meadow and the animals in the forest before reaching beyond the earthly realm to depict the heavens and love itself. \nMore information HERE
