More about the Northwest Boychoir:
The Northwest Boychoir has earned a distinguished reputation as one of the nation’s premier children’s choirs, known for its exceptional musical sophistication, rich tonal quality, and unwavering pursuit of excellence. Alongside Vocalpoint! Seattle, the Boychoir has nurtured thousands of young singers over the past 50 years, imparting essential lessons in personal commitment and the value of teamwork. With a focus on training young singers ages 5–18, the choir cultivates fully skilled musicians who perform with the confidence and precision of professionals, reading music fluently and delivering performances of the highest caliber.
For over three decades, the Northwest Boychoir has enjoyed a close and collaborative relationship with the Seattle Symphony. In 2009, the choir joined the Symphony to record Samuel Jones’ children’s fable The Shoe Bird, which earned a Grammy nomination. The Boychoir’s contribution to the Symphony’s 2017 recording of works by French composer Olivier Messiaen, particularly their performance of Trois petites liturgies de la Présence Divine, received widespread acclaim. In recent years, the Boychoir has partnered with the Symphony for stunning performances of Tan Dun’s Buddha Passion, Karl Orff’s Carmina Burana, and Gustav Mahler’s Symphony No. 3.
The Northwest Boychoir also collaborates regularly with Music of Remembrance and other local music ensembles, maintaining an active concert schedule and often being contracted for recording engagements. As the official “Singing Ambassadors” of Washington, the Boychoir continues to inspire, uplift, and represent the vibrant musical community of the Pacific Northwest.
